2016 World War II Weekend - Mid-Atlantic Air Museum

Tons of War-era Jeeps, aircraft, vintage clothing and movie costumes make the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum's World War II Weekend unforgettable. On Saturday, June 4, we went in to photograph the Jeeps and military vehicles on display there. Among a ton of awesome rigs, we found a Ward LaFrance Wrecker lifting a Jeep (pictured above with toy MB), a GTB Burma Jeep and an awesome view of the tarmac.

This beautiful M151A1 greeted us just past the media gate.

This Marine Corp-marked Jeep and pickup made a great pair.

Modern gauges inside the Burma Jeep.

Which is cooler, the wrecker or the Dodge tractor? A vintage bulldozer is on the trailer.

This '44 Ward LaFrance M1A1 Series 5 wrecker makes working on a Jeep a cinch.

The wrecker's Continental 22R 501 six-cylinder. Note dual oil filters.

For presentation purposes the wrecker lifts a G.I. Joe Jeep.

Reenactors at home around their '40's-era armament.

Japan versus the U.S. in this staged battle.

The sound of the machine guns made the audience feel like they were really in a Pacific battle!

Mid-show repairs on this 1/2 ton 1941 Dodge Command Reconnaissance Car.

This vehicle was used to transport officers up to a two-star general.

Show goers stopped to listen to old school tunes by this small army group.

Quinn is proud that his GPW, though not the cleanest, sees some serious use today.

A Signal Corp Slat Grille.

The Slat Grille's spare tire is mounted inside the Jeep's back seat as wire spools hang off the back.

Special Air Services (SAS) Jeep.

A wooden double-machine gun makes a quick decoration for this SAS Jeep. The ammo drums might be fashioned out of pie tins!

'Oddball' from the 1970 motion picture Kelly's Heroes, portrayed in the film by Donald Sutherland.

Paratroopers sat under a C-47 transport shortly before they performed a jump for the audience.

An F4U Corsair speeds past the airfield, but isn't fast enough to outrun a North American Aviation P-51 Mustang.

The P-51 Mustang was known to hit 425 mph.

A Japanese Kate banks in the clouds.

An American Dauntless skims past our vantage point across the runway.
